Groom’s Cakes

Your guy in a "box"

A tackle box complete with lures, fishing line, extra reels, and bobs would be an unexpected surprise and a delicious treat at a wedding.  This was a Groom’s Cake that was made by the bakers on the popular Food Network show, Ace of Cakes.  These cakes have become an increasingly popular way to show grooms some love, recognize his personality, and show some fun creativity.  An extra slice of dessert doesn’t hurt either!

In all honesty, your groom is a guy, and guys usually can’t tell the difference between lilac and purple place cards…nor would you want them to!  When guests attend a wedding, they are going to see the bride’s taste shining through.   A customized Groom’s Cake is a way to show the guests what the groom is all about.

How to pick the right cake for the groom? Here are a few ideas to get you started;

Hobbies- Emphasizing a hobby is a great way to individualize his cake. Sports, photography, travel, model cars and pets have been popular choices.

Here's one to bet on.

Career- A groom with a prominent career may appreciate a cake that reflects his hard work. Wings for a pilot, firetruck for a fireman, computer for a software designer. You get the idea!

Appropriate when the groom is nuts for the Buckeyes!

Alumni- If your groom is proud of his educational achievement, a cake to honor him with a cake that highlights his school colors, a mascot or logo are all fun options.

Food- This one is a quirky way to make a statement and it can be made more sentimental with having the cake mimic the food you shared on your first date or when he proposed.

Even if he’s not a dessert guy, he will without a doubt appreciate the thought and recognition that went into the cake.  And as I mentioned, another bite of something sweet to celebrate this amazing day is never a bad thing.  Dig in!
